Our Instructors
Shawn Wludyka - owner
Aside from establishing BPM Music in 2008, Shawn has been on a continued path of learning the crafts of electric and acoustic guitar, drums, songwriting, recording engineering and production since the early 1990’s. Currently teaching all of the above, Shawn also teaches many of the BPM band lesson groups and is currently hard at work on his solo songwriting project - “sto•ried” - that can be found on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music.
Maureen Leeson
Maureen has been a part of BPM Music long before its inception. Since then Maureen, a.k.a. Moe, has established herself as the leading vocal instructor in the East Toronto area. Beyond vocal instruction Maureen also teaches piano, guitar and flute, as well as a weekly Rock Choir.
Currently fronting “Left Turn At Ted’s”, be sure to catch her performing live in a powerful rock group partly comprised of current and former BPM students!
Jacek Karlowski
Jacek Karlowski, a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and visual artist, has been an integral part of the BPM Family since 2009. Jacek is a graduate of the Humber College Jazz program as well as the Ontario College of Art and Design, and teaches many instruments including guitar (all styles), bass guitar, piano, ukulele and composition.
Aside from teaching, Jacek is currently busy composing scores for independent film and writing/performing with Anton Apostolov’s Green Sky Project.
Max Trefler
Max Trefler, a seasoned instructor, recording artist, live performance artist and session drummer, has been teaching and recording with us now for over 3 years. He guides our students to approach the drum kit the same way that he does, and that is best described by Max himself:
“I bring feel, intention, and dynamic energy, the kind of drumming that doesn’t just fill space but helps the song breathe. My goal is always to elevate the emotional arc of the track, whether that means laying down a warm, supportive groove or driving a chorus with just the right lift. Every part I play is shaped by the mood, story, and tone of the music. I aim to enhance the movement, add depth, and bring a musical pulse that compliments and amplifies the heart of the song. Ultimately, I bring a collaborative spirit that puts the song first, always”.
Gwyn Francis
Gwyn is a current UTSC student, former BPM student and now our newest piano, vocal, guitar and ukulele instructor. With over a decade of experience studying the piano with the RCM and even longer working with her other instruments, Gwyn has proven to be a fine addition to the BPM teaching roster!
As she does when she performs live, Gwyn offers our students a youthful energy and a warm smile and is always eager to share lesson progress with parents and siblings alike.
Sean Jansen
Sean is another former BPM student, and a recent graduate of York University with his BEd (Honours) and BFA (Special Honours Music).
Sean has been teaching with us for a few years now, with a focus on guitar (all styles), ukulele, bass guitar, drums and piano.
